How are metals classified in my portfolio?
In the PDT we give each effect several characteristics. Think of sectors, countries, currencies, stock exchanges or type of effect. By combining all these effect characteristics, we can show whether your portfolio is well diversified. We do this on the portfolio page.
For precious metals, assigning these characteristics works slightly differently than for, for example, shares or ETFs. We are happy to explain to you which choices we have made.
Sector
We assign all metals to the commodities sector.
Country
It is difficult to link metals to a specific country. Commodities are freely tradable all over the world. It doesn't matter who or where they are made, the price will be the same everywhere. Here too, a separate country called commodities can be found.
Currencies
The currency is determined by the currency you bought metal with.
Stock market
Compared to stocks and ETFs, you don't buy metals on a specific stock market. In order to include metals in the comparison, we refer to these as a separate exchange called commodities.
